More About Dr. Will Courtenay
Will Courtenay, PhD, is an internationally recognized expert in men’s health and in helping men, boys and fathers. The American Psychological Association calls him, “a leading psychologist in the field of masculinity” and “one of the leading scholars, researchers, and public policy shapers in the psychology of men.” He has lectured internationally and, as a consultant, trained thousands of health professionals in how to most effectively communicate and work with men. He is a contributor to Esquire Magazine.
Dr. Courtenay received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Dr. Courtenay has served on the clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and the University of California, San Francisco, Medical School.
In addition to his psychotherapy practice and consulting, Dr. Courtenay has spent the last 15 years researching and writing about men’s physical and mental health concerns, and effective strategies for helping men. His work is referenced by researchers throughout the world and has been translated into many languages. Dr. Courtenay was the founding editor of the International Journal of Men’s Health.
Dr. Courtenay is the author of the book Dying To Be Men (Routledge, 2011). He also hosts a variety of web sites for men.
